This is obviously an exaggerated example simply to display the relationship between base value and bonus% values, as you will rarely see people in arctic era defend with spears (but is happens as some do not bother with defense).ĭefense example : Rail Guns, Hover Tanks and Satellite Spotter (FE or Future Era) ![]() You have a defense unit with just 20 def value but 500% defense sound like a lot, but would only result in a unit with 100 defense a lot less than an arctic unit like the Hover Tanks base defense stat (120) with ZERO attack bonus. 150 and would still be completely under powered, same thing for defense. To defeat the enemy the AI need to cause significant damage to attacking units that normally will have much higher defense boost than most defenders have in attack boost, if your defending army attack boost is similar or even higher than their attack boost you will usually win if you run same era units unless they are very badly matched up.Īlso i want to add, that base defense and attack stats are far more important than bonus% in isolation, just having a spear fighter and massive defense wont stop anyone, the bonus only matters if you have units of same era or above the enemy era that aren't badly outmatched in terms of terrains and / or unit types so if you have arctic era units and they attack you with contemporary era units those units have much lower base stats, so even if they have a lot more boost than you, you can easily beat them.Ī unit with a base value of of just 20 attack even with 300% attack boost vs an advanced era unit with 150 attack with 0% boost, would mean they would have only 60 attack vs. For city defense purposes, a huge attack boost, like 100-125% or more, is far more effective than 200, 300 or even 400% defense boost.
